[Cross-strait Express Comment No. 535]
With the approach of the third reading of the so-called "Reverse Osmosis Law," the DPP authorities, who claim to have a majority of seats in Taiwan's public opinion agencies, have repeatedly threatened to force them to pass. All circles in Taiwan have criticized the DPP authorities for many days to create cross-strait confrontation and tear the society, and blame this evil law as "more horrible than white terror".
According to relevant regulations, Taiwan ’s so-called "legislative" process has to go through three stages: the first reading is the first report of a bill, and after being read out, it will be distributed to relevant professional committees for discussion; the second reading is to review each article and debate among major parties. At the stage of concentration, the main content will also be established at this stage; the third reading is the processing of the vocabulary usage of the second reading, and there is no need to consider each article again. Generally speaking, the third reading of the bill will basically pass without major accidents, so the so-called "reverse osmosis law" should pass with a high probability.
The "Reverse Osmosis Law" is similar to the "CCP Agent Law" shelved a while ago. The difference is that the "Reverse Osmosis Law" is aimed at people who come to Taiwan, while the "CCP Agent Law" is aimed at people inside Taiwan. However, their underlying logic is to treat the mainland as an enemy. "The" reverse osmosis method "is actually the" borrowing the soul "of the" agent of the CCP ". Of course, there are many similar bills proposed by the DPP, such as "foreign forces affect the transparency law." It's just that because of the controversy, most of them are "born dead." In the case of Taiwan's public opinion agency being re-elected soon, by virtue of the "Dongfeng" of "Wang Liqiang's spy case," the DPP will naturally push for the "reverse infiltration method". Mobilizing voters during elections can be described as killing two birds with one stone.
The term "defensive democracy" has appeared in Taiwan's public opinion in recent years. It refers to the use of non-democratic measures to protect democracy when the so-called democracy encounters external threats. This is actually endorsement of cross-strait confrontation for the DPP. . At the same time, it can be found that these political purposes are often beautified with the help of so-called legal means.
The Green Camp will proudly say that the passage of the bill will increase the cost of the Communist Party of China to Taiwan, but it can also be said to increase the cost of cross-strait exchanges. When the Taiwan authorities have no way to solve the problem of people's livelihood in Taiwan, the issue of social governance can only be politicized, which will force the people of Taiwan to choose one of two options. When people vote with their feet and leave Taiwan, this is the biggest harm to Taiwan. (Wang Xiaodi, Center for Taiwan Studies, Shanghai Jiao Tong University)
