China Taiwan Net December 12th It may not be surprising that a doctor became a priest, but today (12th), the first Taoist priest to appear in the history of Taiwan appeared. According to Taiwan's United Daily News, the doctoral program of the Department of Management Science at Tamkang University in Taiwan was released on the 12th. A Taipei Taoist named Pan Zhengpeng ranked fourth, becoming the first Taoist priest in Taiwan to be admitted to the doctoral program. Pan Zhengpeng, who has been a priest for 23 years, said that he was admitted to doctorate in order to fulfill a promise he made before his father was dying.
According to reports, Pan Zhengpeng's grandfather and father were priests, and he became the third generation of priests in the family. Pan Zhengpeng, who only has a high school education, said that he used to drink and smoke, and was not interested in learning, but before his father was dying, he promised that he would go to college and the Kao Institute in the future, and report to his ancestors in a master's uniform .
Since then, Pan Zhengpeng spent 4 years studying at a vocational school, and with the encouragement of his teacher, he was admitted to the Master Class of the Institute of Marine Culture of Ocean University of Taiwan in 2017, becoming the first Taoist master student in the school's history. Two years later, he challenged the doctoral class again and successfully passed the Department of Management Science of Tamkang University.
Pan Zhengpeng said that the people in the countryside often called him "Shigong", but he felt that this was not a respected title, and he wanted to make Taoism a higher academic status. In the future, please call him "Taoist" and "Tao Chief", and stop calling him "Master."
Speaking of why he went on the Taoist road, Pan Zhengpeng said that he had been dazzling with Taoist priests (activities) since he was a child, but when he was 19, he dreamed of a Taoist aunt saying "You are going to learn Taoist, time is up". The next day, he started his Taoist career. Pan Zhengpeng usually has some rituals such as Purdue, detours, blessing rituals, and sacrifice reforms. He feels that modern people have a lot of pressure on life, and Taoists are mostly stable, not superstition. (He Jianfeng, Taiwan Network of China)
