China Taiwan Net Beijing December 25. The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference this morning. Zhu Fenglian, spokesman of the State Council Taiwan Office, presided over the press conference.
On November 4, 20 departments, including the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Central Organization Department of the Commercial Affairs Bureau, issued "Several Measures on Further Promoting Cross-Strait Economic and Cultural Exchange and Cooperation" (referred to as "26 measures"). After the "26 measures" was released, they were warmly welcomed and affirmed by the majority of Taiwan compatriots and enterprises. In order to let everyone know the details of the "26 measures" in detail, this press conference specially invited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive a guarantee center Executive Deputy Director Yang Shu, Deputy Director Wang Zhiwei of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office of the Ministry of Education, Li Jinsheng, Deputy Director of the Professional and Technical Personnel Management Department of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Hong Wei Inspector of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office of the State Sports General Administration Director Wu Jian, I would like to introduce in detail the "Several Measures on Further Promoting Cross-Strait Economic and Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation," which involves 13 measures to provide Taiwan compatriots with equal treatment.
Reporter of Voice of the Straits Radio: We note that Article 25 of the "26 Measures" mentions "Welcome Taiwan athletes, coaches, and professionals to visit, train, participate, work and communicate in the Mainland." What specific initiatives and results? Thank you.
Wu Jian: In the next few years, the mainland will host a series of international large-scale comprehensive events such as the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2022, the Sanya Asian Games in 2020, the Shantou Asian Youth Association in 2021, and the Chengdu World Games in 2025. We will give priority to the needs of Taiwan athletes, provide them with convenient conditions for training and participation, and actively assist them to enjoy home treatment.
The Beijing Winter Olympics should be a platform for compatriots on both sides of the strait to share their glory and share their glory. Because Taiwan is located in the subtropics and lacks the conditions for winter sports training, Mr. Gou Zhongwen, the director of the General Administration of Sports and the chairman of the Chinese Olympic Committee, has stated many times that the mainland will take advantage of the opportunity to organize the Winter Olympics and take the lead in bringing stadium facilities and training resources to Taiwan athletes Opening up, providing support and convenience in ex-situ training, service guarantee, exchange competitions, etc., to help Taiwan athletes improve their winter sports and strive to achieve good results at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
For example, baseball is known as the No. 1 sport on the island and is loved by Taiwanese teenagers and the public. Since I have been engaged in cross-strait sports exchanges for a long time, I know the significance of baseball to the people and the sports industry in Taiwan. Earlier this year, the Taiwan Olympic Committee and the sports industry made many proposals to us, hoping to include baseball in the official games of the Hangzhou Asian Games. Objectively speaking, baseball to be listed as a game event in the Hangzhou Asian Games faces many obstacles. First, it should not be set up from the international practice, and it also brings many problems to the host. However, considering the demands of Taiwan compatriots and the sports community, the Chinese Olympic Committee has repeatedly communicated and negotiated with the Hangzhou Asian Organizing Committee and the Asian Olympic Council, and actively promoted it. Eventually, it overcame the difficulties of project setting and stadium construction, and promoted baseball in September this year. Officially listed as the Hangzhou Asian Games. This is the result of years of exchanges and cooperation between the sports circles on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. It also reflects the sincerity of the mainland sports industry to actively respond to the demands of the Taiwan sports industry and to share the dividends of mainland sports development with Taiwan compatriots.
